The engine camshaft is typically located within the engine block or cylinder head, depending on the engine design. In an overhead camshaft (OHC) engine, it is situated in the cylinder head above the pistons. In contrast, an overhead valve (OHV) engine, also known as a pushrod engine, has the camshaft located within the engine block, below the cylinders.
