Pistons of diesel engines are typically cooled by oil, which is sprayed or splashed onto the underside of the piston from the crankcase. This oil not only helps dissipate heat but also lubricates the piston and other moving parts. In some high-performance or heavy-duty engines, additional cooling methods, such as oil jets or integrated cooling galleries within the piston, may be used to enhance heat dissipation.
