Pioneer 10 was initially equipped with four radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs), which collectively provided about 160 watts of electrical power at the time of its launch in 1972. However, due to the natural decay of the radioactive material, the power output gradually decreased over time. By the end of its mission, the available power was significantly lower, limiting the spacecraft's operational capabilities.
